Today car transport from the EU to Ukraine is not a surprise to anyone, because it is already on an industrial scale. The main reasons for such activity are mass purchase of used cars and temporary work of Ukrainians abroad, who have long ago bought and travelled their vehicles there. Over the past 10 years to bring a car from Europe has become a popular activity among Ukrainian motorists. Where did this trend come from and why it happens:

• In the domestic car market there is no such a variety of models and configurations of well-known car brands. In the EU countries one can easily find sporty and exclusive cars, modified by factory engineers to improve their technical characteristics and design.
• Cars are operated on roads with good pavement, serviced in a timely manner only at accredited workshops (there are no others there). High quality of service and fuels and lubricants do not allow mechanisms to fail quickly. Due to this, cars from abroad with equal mileage in Ukraine and the European Union have different technical condition.
• Honesty at sale. In our country the majority sells their cars for the reason that they are already tired of repairing them, and the mileage is such that it is necessary to do a major engine overhaul. Naturally at sale the passed kilometres are reeled off, and defects are hushed up. Europeans have it easier, they change their transport once in 5-7 years simply because they got bored with the car or outdated model. Therefore, everything is more or less honest there and no one before the sale does not ‘paint the lips’ of the car to hide the shortcomings.
• Another factor is the cost of a used vehicle. In European countries new cars are twice cheaper than in Ukraine. They have a system, thanks to which new models, not sold in the first year of the next year - go with a discount of 10%. If the car is not sold within 5 years, its price is reduced by 40%. Since we do not have this scheme at all, the cost of used cars is noticeably higher.
• If you order a car in a foreign car dealership (from a legal entity), there is a high probability that 19% of the cost will be refunded to you (VAT). If you buy from a private person, they do not refund anything, but their starting price is lower.

It is for these reasons Ukrainian motorists prefer to buy cars from Europeans. Because as a result - to buy, bring a car from Europe to Ukraine, pay taxes and fees - is more profitable than to buy on the Ukrainian market.

How much it costs to deliver a car to Ukraine

It should be noted at once that there is no unambiguous cost for this service. Calculation is made on the basis of initial data, taking into account several factors:

• The size of the car and its weight.
• Distance of the transport route.
• Urgency and timing of the transport.
• Whether the vehicle is on the move or not.
• The number of countries and borders to be crossed during the journey.
• Conditions of carriage and type of vehicle that will carry your car.
• The number of transported units of cars. To bring a car from abroad to Ukraine in a single copy, you can use the services of a prefabricated cargo and pay only 50% of the cost of the service. Just next to your car will go another one. This will affect the delivery time, but not very significantly, which will more than compensate for the lower costs.
• Buying additional services (escort, security, etc.).

The cost calculator does not give a clear price, it only shows the approximate cost. This is done for convenience, so that the customer understands the order of numbers in future settlements. How to bring a car to Ukraine

A car from the European Union countries can get to our country in several ways:

• By aeroplane. This is a rare and very expensive case, so it is not taken into account.
• By water transport (sea, river).
• By railway.
• By trucking.
• By road.

Transport by water or rail has a lower cost over long distances. Transportation of a small cargo for 1-1.5 thousand kilometers can cause a lot of inconvenience and additional costs, which will lead to loss of profitability of such operations. And these transportations take more time than auto delivery.

In order to bring a car to Ukraine, it is necessary to perform the following activities:

1. Choose the car you like in a car dealership or from a private person on the trading floor, agree on the time of viewing and purchase.
2. Find a transport company, draw up and sign a contract, pay part or full cost of the service.
3. To appear at the owner of the car before the transport of the carrier to check the availability of available documents and to formalise the transaction.
4. Wait for the transport company's car, supervise loading, hand over the accompanying documents to the driver.
5. Further you can go home by train, plane or bus, and your car will go separately.
6. Meet your ‘swallow’ already in the yard, garage or entrance at the appointed time. Upon arrival, the car will be unloaded, you will inspect it and if everything is good, you will sign the acceptance certificate. You will be left to transfer the second part of the money for the service, or you can immediately start celebrating the successful delivery, if you worked on a full prepayment.

This is the end of the transport company's work, and you still have to work on legalization and registration of the car in the relevant authorities according to the current legislation.

Why car delivery by transport companies is more favorable than bringing the car yourself

Since the mid-nineties of the last century, the stereotype about quick earnings as a result of independent ferrying of a cheap used car from a European country does not give rest to many car enthusiasts. Since then everything has changed considerably, so let's evaluate what advantages the firm of carrier has before private delivery in real conditions:

• The distance of 1.5-2 thousand kilometres will be a serious test for not new and unprepared car. Not all cars can overcome it without adventures.
• Tyres, suspension, motor save their remaining resource. Particularly thrifty owners before sale save money - do not make TO, do not refill oil and other liquids, rubber is left worn to a minimum.
• Almost completely excluded spoilage, kidnapping, traffic accidents during transport.
• You do not bear the costs associated with the preparation of the car to overcome the long distance. This includes not only the purchase of consumable parts and liquids, but also obtaining transit numbers. Just getting them can cost from 150 to 200 euros.
• Do not spend money on the road to get to the seller from Ukraine, overnight accommodation, meals, payment of season tickets on toll autobahns and other trifles. The car is delivered to the specified address.
• Assistance in filling out paperwork for transport and optional presence at border crossings. This eliminates errors and unauthorised charges or duties.
• There will be no surprises in the form of compulsory purchase of transit and other declarations for 70 euros, as Poles do.
• The cost of delivery can be half as much if you want to transport one of your own cars together with another car of someone else.
• Breakdowns on the road are excluded. If something breaks in your car during the self-drive, there is a 90% chance that you will not be able to fix it yourself. You will have to seriously splurge on a tow truck and local car service.

To bring a car to Ukraine on your own only seems to be a simple matter. Even experienced ‘racers’ take two cars at once to compensate for the road and related costs of registration, and to make a profit with the second one.
